{Evergreen homes make a beautiful custom home. We loved working with Nick, Chris, Tama and the rest of the team to make our custom home dreams come true. As rewarding as it is building your current dream home, it can also be a very stressful process (especially dealing with the added bonus of COVID). There was stress and there were setbacks but the team did their very best to meet us in the middle and were quick to fix any miscommunications that came up along the way which is what you’d want from your builder. There are budgets, timelines, decisions, and many questions to work through but their kindness and patience were invaluable in a very stressful time. It was so fun designing our home and extremely rewarding seeing it all come together throughout the process.

{ We lived in eastern Oregon but wanted to move closer to Portland and family, we checked out many builders but from the first contact with Evergreen they were superior. We were very specific in what we wanted in our home and had looked at many floor plans but couldn’t find the exact one we wanted. Working with Chris Sundstrom and his architect/designer, Tama, we were able to incorporate all the features we wanted in a design that perfectly fit our needs. During the entire construction process we received all the help, information and guidance we had hoped for. All of the crews that worked on our home were top quality; we had been very involved in our last home construction and my husband is a skilled handyman so we know a little more than average. Our foreman, Sterling, was absolutely top notch, he is dedicated, personable, a perfectionist and we felt that our home was truly important to him. Linda, who handled all the permits necessary for building on virgin land with a year-round creek, was so professional, calm and persistent, I can’t imagine trying to go through this process on our own. Lisa, who handled all the financial issues was also exemplary, as she navigated us through the process and was always available to take our calls or answer a text. When it came time to chose our finishes, Tama was better than I could have ever hoped for. She has wonderful taste, a great depth of knowledge and was able to take our style and preferences and guide us in choosing tile, flooring, counters, windows, doors, etc. in a way that I have seen on such shows as Property Brothers, but never thought I would have access to. Evergreen Homes was all we had hoped for and we absolutely love our new home!

October 2024 Update:
We have been in our home now for four and a half years and we still love it. I’m posting an update as it occurred to me the other day that we haven’t had any real issues with our home. In talking with neighbors who used different builders, they’ve made multiple callbacks for a variety of issues – some very serious.

We’ve only had one, and it cropped up our second year in the house. The cedar that was used to clad our porch columns developed streaks from the nails used to attach it. When I contacted Evergreen Homes, they came out and inspected it and knew exactly what happened. The contractor who did the work mistakenly used the wrong nails – interior vs. stainless steel. Evergreen promptly replaced all the cedar and ensured it was attached with the correct fasteners. This was no small job, but they took responsibility for the mistake and made it right.

I’m sure they could have given me the run-around and dragged this out trying to place blame on someone else, but they didn’t. There was no hassle, no debate, they just resolved the issue. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend them or use them again myself should I ever build another home.

We have a beautiful custom home that meets our needs and lifestyle perfectly. We wanted a builder who really delivered outstanding design, quality, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and value. Evergreen has exceeded our expectations on each of our five criteria. The quality of the materials that went into our home matches the quality of the work. We found true craftsmanship and attention to detail in nearly every facet of our home. Most homeowners probably don’t give a second thought to the work done by the framers as their work gets covered up. During a visit, we inspected their work with a framing square, level, and tape measure – we were blown away with the accuracy of their work – floors that are truly level, plumb walls, and square corners! The finish work is equally impressive. We have natural wood doors, windows, and millwork so you cannot mask mistakes with caulk. From excavation to final finish – everything is amazing, and we greatly appreciate the hard work all the trades put into building our dream home. You can tell they care! Our custom design started as a sketch Chris made on a yellow pad while sitting with us on a log on our property. He incorporated everything we wanted and quite a few things we had not even thought about. We were living in Maryland throughout the entire design and build process, yet Chris, Sterling, Linda, Tama, and Lisa made it feel like we were just down the street. Through their outstanding communication, doing a long-distance build was not an issue. Sterling was wonderful in managing the team of craftsmen who built our home. He spent a good amount of time with us during an early visit to understand what was important to us. He then went out of his way to ensure every detail we wanted was simply perfect.

From start to finish, the experience with Evergreen Homes was incredible. They designed a modern house for me that looks so original and beautiful, I find myself just staring at it – in awe. The construction process presented challenges at times, such as weather, but the team persisted and constantly managed my expectations. The attention to detail and quality is unmatched. { Chris was very patient and helpful during the entire process of trying to find the right home and layout for us. After multiple meetings with him, my wife and I finally decided on the home that fit our needs was already in the beginning stages of the building process, and we were able to make the changes we desired. Once we met with the foreman, Sterling, everything went like clockwork. He addressed every need, issue, question, and concern that we had. He understands how stressful building a new home can be, and he was absolutely wonderful to work with. Even after the build, any question or minor issue we had (new homes will always have something small that needs to be addressed) was immediately taken care of. Now that’s service after the sale! We still chat and text each other even though we’ve been in the house for over 4 months. Tama is truly gifted in the art of new home design! From speaking with other home owners in the neighborhood, she is also fantastic to work with when it comes to choosing colors and finishes. Ours turned out much better than we would have picked by ourselves. Everything from the exterior paint to the color of the floors flowed beautifully. If you’re trying to find a quality minded and honest builder for your home and are shopping around for one…take notice. Evergreen is a “little” more expensive (at first glance) than other builders that just “spit out” a house. But upon reviewing what actually goes into the house and how they’re built, the overall value of the build is far superior than a lot of other builders in the area. Quality and service are their two main priorities when building your home. Everything from the extra insulation, tankless water heater, built in shelves in the living room, carpets with extra padding, outstanding tile and granite work throughout the home, the attention to detail in everything they do is absolutely outstanding! They go the extra mile. One other selling point is they only build a few houses at a time instead of spreading themselves too thin building many of them at once. This allows each foreman to concentrate on your needs during the process. We’re happy homeowners. If/and/or when we decide to build another home, our decision is an easy one!

I wanted to wait a few months after moving in to write a review, because I wanted to make sure I was out of the initial “new home bliss” phase and could write a thoughtful review. Well – our new home still makes us feel blissful! We love coming home each day and continue to be impressed with the quality workmanship that is in our home. Tama designed our home’s floor plan especially to fit the particular lot we bought. Her design maximized the available space, and we have tons of windows and awesome views. We did a lot of customization and Chris helped us modify our garage so that our RV will fit inside it.
