Ridgefield has long been one of the fastest growing cities in Clark County as well as the State of Washington. With wide open spaces, a charming downtown area, and plenty of things to do throughout the year, it shouldn’t come as a shock that people want to live here. With the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge just across Lake River, Ridgefield offers something for nature lovers, too.
With summer in full swing, there are many community events on tap. Though the City is experiencing population growth, it still manages to keep that small-town feel.
Farmer’s Market
Held on Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., the Ridgefield Farmers Market is open from May through September. Fresh fruit and fragrant flowers can be found, along with arts, crafts, andother market staples. The Market is held in Overlook Park in the downtown area.
First Saturdays
As the name would indicate, the first Saturday of every month finds the downtown area abuzz in all kinds of action. Live music, food options, and fun for the whole family are par for the course and each month has a different theme. The event is a way for people to gather downtown and highlight natural resources, history, and charitable values of the community.
Summertime Tuesdays in the Park
During August, find several fun family-friendly activities in Ridgefield Parks, including National Night Out, music, films, exercise classes, and more.
Fourth of July
One of the marquee events for the downtown area, the 4th of July is a celebration 100 years strong. Starting with a 7 a.m. pancake feed and ending with a fireworks show at 10 p.m., the day-long event has something for everyone: Fun Runs, parade, food, live music, and a pie-eating contest of course.
Cruise-In
In late July, all those classic cars from days gone by – as well as a few newer models – cruise downtown Ridgefield. Model A’s, souped up convertibles, and shiny chrome are on display as far as the eye can see. While taking in these awesome autos, food vendors will be on hand to make sure your stomach is as full as your eyes!
Venues
These are just a few of the events held in the downtown area. Other entertainment available year-round includes national acts performing at the nearby ilani Resort & Casino and Sunlight Supply Amphitheater Oktoberfest is a popular occasion in early September, and several holiday events take place towards the end of the year.
Golf
If you don’t mind a little rain (and you better not, living in the Pacific Northwest!) Tri-Mountain Golf Course offers 18 holes for players of all abilities. The aforementioned Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge offers parks, trails, and kayaking for nature lovers. No matter the time of year, Ridgefield has something to do!
